Desert Ecosystems Hands-on Activities - Ecosystems and Desert Biomes Project: All About Terrariums - Learn - Build - Teach! Hands-on Project-Based Learning! Great Earth Day Project!

Students learn all about desert ecosystems and then build their own Desert Terrariums in class.

Once they have learned their new skills, it's their turn to be the instructor and teach others how to make a Desert Terrarium. Great for a Parent Night Event. Imagine students in the role of teachers leading a workshop, providing one-on-one instruction to family members!

This set includes:

1. 25-slide Presentation with the history of terrariums, the science of desert ecosystems, and step-by-step instructions (with diagrams and photos) to guide you and your students through the learning process to build their own terrariums.

2. Student Project: 3 Part Project that leads them to create their own workshop to teach other students or adults all about terrariums.

3. Learning Survey Rubric: An assessment tool for workshop participants and you as the teacher.

I have used this in various classes, including Special Needs and ELLs, on Parent Nights, and as a Fundraiser and it was very successful. Students feel great sharing their knowledge and family members are amazed by their presentations and expertise.
