Description
This Earth Day set will empower your children to make a difference as they learn valuable writing skills. Use materials to help students to think logically, create quality paragraphs, and/or write 6-paragraph essays. I've organized materials so that even Kindergarten students may be able to write essays if they focus on one section per day. Regardless of students' writing and comprehension levels, they can learn from the logic of the song: I begin by telling children the meaning of “being green:” We should “care for the earth, and keep it clean.” Next, children learn four ways that they can immediately make a difference: Grow plants, be responsible with trash, conserve water, and conserve energy. I end the song by reviewing what we have learned.
The last section of this packet features printables and games. This section includes more ideas on saving the earth, such as stopping pollution, protecting the ocean, and saving endangered animals.
