Description

To complete the mystery of The Earth Day Disaster your students will work in small groups, use their detective notes, and solve language tasks to discover who is destroying the Earth.

Happy Earth Day! Earthy Erma is working hard to protect our planet, but someone is destroying it! They are littering, leaving the lights on, and chopping down trees. Please help Earthy Erma find the culprit!

Clue #1 (vowel teams) – All the words have a vowel team. Read each word and sort the words to the correct suspect. Whoever has the most words is NOT the culprit.

Clue #2 (abc order secret puzzzle) – The puzzle shows a suspect that did NOT destroy the Earth! Work with your team to put the pieces together correctly. Hint: The words will help you solve the puzzle!

Clue #3 (character traits) – Read the story and figure out which character traits describe the main character. Whoever has the correct character traits is NOT the culprit.

Clue #4 (diphthongs) – Each of the words has a diphthong. Sort the words to the correct suspect. Whoever has the most words is NOT destroying the planet.

Clue #5 (scrambled words) – The words are all scrambled up! Use the clues to help you unscramble the letters. Whoever has the correct words is NOT the culprit!
