Description

Included are 5 suggested Center Activities that will help you and your ESL students transition into a school setting. You can run each center separately or rotate them simultaneously for about 15 – 20 mins with 4-5 students in each center.

Included are the following centers:

~Fluency Center includes 36 fluency cards that have common word phrases used in daily speech. Print and cut out the phrases on cardstock. Laminate for durability. Have your students practice speaking them out loud with a partner.

~Survival Center includes 22 “survival phrases” that will help your students survive their first weeks of school. For students learning English, it is vital that they speak and orally practice the language for their success in your classroom. Two blank cards are also provided for you to personalize. Print on cardstock and laminate for durability.

~Bingo Center will provide your students with an opportunity to practice saying and hearing the most commonly used vocabulary words in a school setting. Included are 5 BINGO cards, 36 Call Out Cards, and 100 bingo counters. Print on cardstock and laminate for durability.

~Independent Center includes 2 worksheets for your students to work on body parts and clothing vocabulary. The body parts worksheet includes 15 different body parts and the clothing worksheet includes 8 different types of clothing. Answer Keys are provided!

~Reading Center is a fun way for your students to learn the words and uses of the 5 senses. These books will help your ESL students gain confidence in their vocabulary words and speaking skills, especially during lunch and recess time. Print each book on white paper or on different colored paper for each of the 5 senses. (ex; yellow for “see”, blue for “hear”, pink for “touch”, green for “taste”, and purple for “smell” ) Fold in half and then in half again. Laminate for durability.

~Home Extension (Optional) Have students take home the Reading Center books for additional reading and practice.
