EMERGENCY SUB PLAN: "Hot Set" Scenic Design Handout

When I teach design, I love to show a Hot Set Episode. It outlines the design process and focuses on probleming solving. My students love to see behind the scenes of a hollywood hot set to. This is my handout that follows along with the episodes. It's great to use during your design unit for 6th grade-12th grade, a sub plan, or emergency lesson plans on testing or assembly days.

I exclusively use the Basement of Horrors episode. It really grabs the student's attention and outlines the design process really well. One testing days or in emergency lesson plan situations- Villain's Lair and Alien Queen episodes are really popular with my theatre students. The other episodes in the season drop some curse words or are inappropriate for school- Android Bordello.
