    Author Presentation with Rubric

    Description

Are you teaching Creative Writing or would you like to infuse your ELA course with Creative Writing options? These units will allow you to hit on standards that work for any ELA course while helping students develop their voice and style and dive into engaging texts. Representative authors include: Margaret Atwood, Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, Ursula K. Le Guin, Yann Martel, Joan Aiken, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Edgar Allan Poe, Kate Chopin, Roald Dahl, Robert Browning, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Maya Angelou among others. This bundle lets you place the units throughout your course work in order to continue to engage your students in enduring learning.

Start off with Habits of Mind to engage students from the start, draw them in with Dystopia and Horror, help them broaden their reading experiences with Reading Through a Lens, and allow for choice with the Historical Fiction Research Options (thumbnails show example of a handouts). Also include Bonus Author Presentation guidelines with rubric which can be done prior to students beginning the Reading Through a Lens. When surveyed at the end of the year, these are many students' favorite units. There are over 30 days worth of lesson plans included in this bundle! Take back your time and get your students excited about your class work. Plus, everything can easily be adapted to Distance Learning if necessary.
