Description
With this resource, you and your students will know how they are mastering reading standards all year long, and you won't have to do any of the work! Students make an individual copy of this spreadsheet and enter in their data after testing. Have students share their spreadsheets with you and house them in a Google folder for easy access.
Watch this video here for how-to instructions!
This resource is designed for you to administer up to 4 tests aligned with the Common Core/state equivalent reading standards 1-6. For a semester-long course, I like to administer a pre-assessment after the first week or two, and then a first quarter reading benchmark, a midterm reading benchmark, and then a second quarter reading benchmark. The reading benchmarks that I administer mirror the students' end of course (EOC) exam that they take at the end of the semester, so they have a few "cold-read" passages/articles/poems and standards-based multiple choice questions. You can customize which question #s from your tests align with the standards, but the spreadsheet is designed so that there is 5 questions for each of the 6 main reading standards. All students have to do is fill in the question # cells red if they got the question wrong or green if they got the question right, and then tally up how many green in the yellow column for each of the standards. That data will then populate on a line graph as they take more tests so you and the students can see how they are mastering the standards over time.
Please email me with any questions about how to use this resource! I hope it is helpful for you and your students!
