ELA Regents Strategies for NYS

This is a comprehensive packet that focuses on preparing the students for the NY State High School ELA Common Core Regents Review. The activities included are organized and aligned with the format of the NY State High School ELA Exam. We have provided a review of the various strategies as they relate to the different sections of the exam.

The packet reviews part 1, 2, and 3 of the regents. Within each section we have included a variety of strategies that would be helpful for your students to review in order to be prepared for the cumulative exam.

Some of the strategies that are provided as a preview in this packet are; Annotating, Text Features, Vocabulary Strategies, Paraphrasing, Inferencing, Argumentative Writing Strategies, POWER, Sentence Starters, Transition words and phrases, etc. Remember, this packet does not provide practice of these strategies it is meant to be a review of the strategies that have been taught during the school year.
