Description
Hot Seat is my most competitive game I play with my students, and they LOVE it! This version is now editable within Google Slides (TM). This game set covers regular verbs in the preterite tense (el pretérito). I love La Silla Caliente because it is a great way to get ALL of my students engaged at the same time, and allows me to formatively assess where every student is individually! This game uses movement to keep students motivated and eager to play :) But you can adjust by passing a "key" item between team members if you don't want movement.

This game of LA SILLA CALIENTE (hot seat!) assesses student knowledge of regular preterite tense conjugations as well as key preterite tense phrases.
I love this game because all students play, and all students MATTER!! If you've never played before, the directions are on the first slide. Please check out the preview to get a better idea!

The presentation provides 30 question slides, with each answer on the slide immediately following the question. Questions progress from easy to medium to difficult in four different categories.
REGULAR Preterite verbs are covered!
1) The first group of questions provides full sentences in Spanish and asks students to identify whether each sentence is in el PRESENTE or el PRETÉRITO. (x5)
2) The second group of questions gives key words in the preterite and asks students to define the word in English. (x5)
3) The third group of questions are Spanish sentences with fill-ins, where students are given the verb but must provide the correct conjugation based on the subject provided in the sentence. (x15)
4) The fourth and final group of questions are short response open-ended questions where students must construct a full sentence response using the preterite tense. (x5)
ANSWER KEY PROVIDED: the answers are provided in red during the presentation, immediately following each question slide.
