What educators are saying

This was incredibly helpful when I had to assign holiday projects to my 4th grade classes. We went over the rubric together and adjusted it to fit our projects, and then it was super easy to grade. I definitely recommend it!
I use this resource 6-10 times a year in my Montessori classroom for student presentations. I like that the rubric is easy for the students to understand and the scoring allows them to work towards a higher score the next time.

What are my recommendations for use in your classroom?

◾ The teacher instructions page included provides an in-depth recommendation for structuring and assigning oral presentations. I share ideas for helping students understand how they'll be assessed with the rubrics, for accommodations for students, and for structuring class time for preparing for the presentations.

◾ The rubric already includes benchmarks based on the standards to which this resource is aligned, but I left the score column blank for your use. I also included an editable PowerPoint template, in case you need to create a different overview sheet and/or different rubrics for better personalization.

◾ You can use the half-sheet peer assessment rubric if you choose to have your class do their oral presentations in small groups of 3-4 students instead of to the whole class. There is no score column on the ready-to-print PDF version of this rubric because students' final grades should not be based on a peer assessment, but you can alter this in the editable PowerPoint if desired.

◾ I also included a half-sheet self-assessment rubric so that students can reflect on their own behavior as audience members, whether that's for whole-class presentations or small-group presentations. Again, no score column is included on the ready-to-print PDF, but you can add one in the editable PowerPoint, if you wish.
