Description
Do your students struggle when identifying variables? Holy cow mine sure do (hand raising emoji game is strong with this one). After seeing students struggle I created this straightforward checklist.
Your checklist is to be paired with practice problems (20 included). When introducing and reviewing variables, I find it effective to have one scenario as a warm-up. Students may use their checklist to work through that example.
The checklist itself will have one scenario that will serve as an example to initially learn or review together. Per the directions, you will want students using 4 different colors (one per variable) as they use color to make connections between variables and where they are found within scenarios.
The file will also provide you with 20 warm-up questions (plus additional directions on best practices). These warm-ups are found within Google Slides. There is a color option perfect for teacher presentations and a black and white slide show which is used for student handouts. Instructions within will direct you on how to use these appropriately.
Everything is editable.
