EASTER unit for English B HL Paper 1 & Paper 2 (Writing, Reading & Listening)

Celebrate Easter without the toothache, explore ALL of the English B themes, and develop skills for Papers 1 & 2! Need I say more?!

I have created a unit for English B based around Easter which includes a writing, reading and listening activity.

Includes:

• 1 listening comprehension resource to prepare for Paper 2
• 1 reading comprehension resource to prepare for Paper 2
• 1 writing resource to prepare for Paper 1
• central concept of Easter to link resources together and promote discussion

How it works:

• The first resource is a listening comprehension activity. Students listen to three videos about Easter and complete listening comprehension questions. Just like the real, Paper 2 exam, there is a section at the bottom of each page for students to take notes. There is a total of 25 marks, exactly the same amount as the Paper 2 listening exam. A detailed answer key is included.

• The second resource is a reading comprehension activity. Students read three texts about Easter and answer 32 reading comprehension questions. They then answer 2 bonus reflection questions about English B themes and Easter symbols. Resource has same time limit, format and marks as the real Paper 2 reading exam. A detailed answer key is included.

• The third resource is a writing activity. Students choose to write any sort of Easter-themed text type, a short story or even a poem. Students then complete a table which helps them to organise their ideas in terms of language and message. After writing their text, rubrics for Language (Criterion A) and Message (Criterion B) are included. Therefore this resource could be formative or summative, a self-evaluation, or even a peer-evaluation.
