What educators are saying

My students loved designing their own sea creature colored pencil drawings and appreciated the Artist components as well. I liked how everything was organized- it paired well with our classroom sketchbooks.

Description

I can't say enough good things about this LESSON!!! All my high school kids are 100% online, and the results of this project are amazing! This is a drawing lesson that utilizes dry material (pen, pencil, colored pencil and/or graphite, markers) on drawing paper of any size. This purchase includes an editable Digital sketchbook (Google Slide) that can be shared with students and includes links to EVERYTHING such as a Wyland Slideshow, Drawing tutorials, Student examples, demo videos, Teacher agenda, etc. The lesson was created to enhance basic drawing skills. Students will learn how to start a drawing with gesture, simple shapes and contour lines and then transform those things into a more realistic image. Within this lesson I cover composition, contour lines, geometric and organic shapes, and color value. The Art History element focuses on Robert Wyland (hence the sea creature theme) and we address philosophical aesthetics through an assignment and discussion on the controversy surrounding the proposed removal of one of Wyland's Murals in Redondo Beach, CA.

Throughout the digital sketchbook, I provide notes for teachers to help navigate the product and you can also view this video for detailed information on what it looks like and how we use the it.
