Description

This is a fun VOICE project that high school and middle school drama students really enjoy because it involves something they're really good at....complaining! :)

They can do it by themselves or in pairs.

They create a rant based off of any topic they like. If they're stuck, I usually have some to pick from (winter, homework, school uniform etc.)

The point is the subject matter DOESN'T MATTER - it's how they're speaking that matters. Heck, I've even had one student do it on toilet paper.

This handout focuses on

✤Body Language

✤Voice

(and the look for's for both of these)

TIP - you can show them great rants from Rick Mercer (they're on Youtube) to really examine his style and use of voice

We really focus on doing workshops beforehand that help them avoid "FILLER WORDS" like "uhhh.." "ummmm".

They always say this project helps them with doing presentations in English class etc. Bring a LOT of awareness to their quirks.
