Description

Australian teachers, are you ready to teach your students about how to form their letters correctly on the dotted thirds? Well, this resource is for you! Transition your students to writing on the dotted thirdS with these supporting resources. With a PowerPoint to explicitly teach about tall, small and fall letters, classroom posters to display, plus a student-sized copy for students to use at their tables, you’ll have everything you need for your handwriting lessons. No matter which Australian font you use, there’s a version here for you.

What is included in this resource?

This resource pack comes in the following fonts: NSW, SA Beginner, SA, Tas, QLD Beginner, Victorian Modern Cursive, Sassoon Primary and Century Gothic.

Each font version includes:

  • A PowerPoint to display on your Smartboard - Use the slides to explicitly teach students about tall, small and fall letters. You can show them which line the letters sit on. Show the slides as you do your modelled writing too.
  • Classroom Posters – Display these posters in the classroom or in the writing centre to remind students that some letters are tall, some are small and some letters fall.
  • Student-sized version- Give this small version to your students to at their tables. As they are learning to write on the dotted-thirds, they can refer to their small version to check how to place the letters on the line.

The PowerPoint, classroom posters and student printouts comes in three versions. Please check the preview for a closer look!

Alternative lines

Did you know that in different parts of the country, we teach students how to write on the dotted thirds differently? That’s why I created two versions. Use whichever version best suits your students.

  • Version 1: This version is where the letters sit on the solid line, with two dotted lines above. This version will suit most classrooms.
  • Version 2 (alternative lines): This version is where the letters sit in between two solid lines, with a dotted line above and below. This version might best suit teachers who teach in NSW.

Please ensure you check out the PREVIEW to make sure this resource is right for you. Please note, everything has been flattened and secured so it is not editable.
