Diwali Craft - Rangoli Diya

A fun craft activity when celebrating Diwali / Deepavali (The Hindu Festival of Lights). This activity incorporates two aspects of Diwali: the rangoli and the diya.

1. Design a pattern (use the grid lines to help keep your shapes consistent).
2. Write a fact about Diwali, or a message (or use the template with the pre-printed message).
3. Add colour.
4. Cut.
5. Glue the two flames together and insert into the diya. Glue together.
6. Hang.

Alternatively, you could make this into a greeting card and write a message inside the diya, rather than gluing it together.

TWO PAPER SIZES:

• A4 size paper
• Letter size paper

This activity can integrate Diwali with maths (shapes and repeating patterns).
