Description

Dividing unit fractions by whole numbers and dividing whole numbers by unit fractions is more engaging with fractions color by number worksheets. And, with a digital color by number option, your 5th grade math students have some unique coloring options!

  • Students solve 20 dividing unit fractions problems, find the solution number on the coloring pages/sections, and color it with the color indicated in the box for that problem.

Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included and how the digital version works (students will need to know how to use the "Fill color" feature).

Problems require students to:

  • Divide unit fractions by whole numbers
  • Divide whole numbers by unit fractions
  • Solve word problems that require division of whole numbers and unit fractions

In this easy-prep resource for dividing unit fractions you're going to get:

1) Two print versions:

Version A:

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions
  • Coloring sheet

Version B:

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions (similar questions to Version A; a few are the same. Answers are the same.)
  • Coloring sheet (less detailed than Version A)

2) One Google Slides version

  • Same problems as Version A and mostly same coloring as print Version B
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
  • Link to the Google version is in the PDF download

3) Two coloring pages with no numbers, so students can color for fun, create their own color by number activities, or so you can create your own color by numbers for your classes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“My students loved the opportunity to practice in a more creative way. I used this resource as an extension activity for my early finishers.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“Fun way for my students to review skills. They have to solve the problems to determine what color to use on segments of the picture. Makes for a fun station for them. Thank you!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“My students love these coloring pages. They are motivated to color the design and having to find their answers helps them to self correct their work. Excellent supplemental resource on dividing fractions.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“As always this seller never lets me down! The resource was exactly what I was looking for. I love how I was able to give some students paper but some of my SPED students digital copies to color."

Apply and extend previous understandings of division to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
Interpret division of a unit fraction by a non-zero whole number, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for (1/3) ÷ 4, and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (1/3) ÷ 4 = 1/12 because (1/12) × 4 = 1/3.
Interpret division of a whole number by a unit fraction, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for 4 ÷ (1/5), and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that 4 ÷ (1/5) = 20 because 20 × (1/5) = 4.
Solve real world problems involving division of unit fractions by non-zero whole numbers and division of whole numbers by unit fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, how much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many 1/3-cup servings are in 2 cups of raisins?
