What are digital badges?
Digital badges are awarded to students in the same way that you would award a physical achievement in a face-to-face class setting. Instead of cutting yarn or printing stickers, you can send the badges to the students digitally. There are several ways to store and collect the digital badges.
How do I use digital badges?
There are a couple of different options for awarding digital badges;
- You can send the badge image file to each student as they meet your performance criteria and they can create a document (badge board) to store their achievements.
- You can create your own digital badge board (or use the ones that are included) and share it with your students then add the badge images to their badge board once they meet the criteria.
- You can use a third-party badging software (like Badgr) to upload the image files and award them to your students inside your classes learning management system (Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, etc)
Why should I use digital badges instead of normal recorder belts?
Well, look at them... aren't they awesome! Gamification is great way to increase engagement in your music class (especially if you will be teaching remotely).
