Discrete Trial Learning KIt: Basic Skills Bundle

These kits are designed to include all the materials needed to teach matching, sorting, receptive and expressive identification of colours, shapes, numbers and letters to your students using discrete trial training. In this kit, you will find 300 flashcards that can be used for matching, sorting, receptive and expressive identification of different, as well as detailed teaching instructions, data sheets and graphs. This kit has a number of exemplars of each colour, shape, number, and letter to ensure generalization when teaching this skill.

This kit addresses the following goals in the Hawaii Early Learning Profile:
#1.137 – Matches colours (black and white)
#1.144 – Matches primary colours
#4.109 – Matches six or more colours
#1.156 – Sorts colours and points to several colours when named
#1.136 – Matches shapes (circle, triangle, square)
#1.146 – Sorts shapes (circle, triangle, square)
#1.192 – Sorts according to shape, size and length
#1.209 – Identifies number symbols of 1 to 5
#1.290 – Identifies what number comes before and after a given number, or between two numbers
#1.292 – Reads numerals to 19
#1.301 – Reads numerals to 49
#1.242 – Names capital and lower case letters when shown printed letters
#1.257 – Says the sound a letter makes when shown the letter.
#1.258 – Matches (visually) identical letters in a group of different letters.

The teaching sessions progress from simple materials, with less distractors, to more distractors. The teaching instruction sheets in this packet will guide you through the teaching process. If a student has already mastered the first phase of teaching, start teaching at the next level.
