What educators are saying

I enjoy using Mr. Slope Guy's practice worksheet! They are always pleasing to the eye(I love the font, size, and layout)!
My students were struggling with dilations with the worksheet that we had provided with the curriculum at the time. This helped them with the concept, it was easy to follow.

Description

Hello Math Teachers! This Dilation Worksheet with Ordered Pairs and Polygons is a fantastic resource to help your students master the concept of dilation with scale factors and transformations around the origin. This two-sided worksheet covers finding new ordered pairs using scale factors, constructing polygons and images after dilation, and identifying the scale factor used for enlargements or reductions.

This activity is designed for pre-algebra classes as a classwork activity or homework, and can also be used in Geometry classes as a worksheet or quiz. It's best used with green- and orange-colored pencils for visual clarity.

With an easy-to-use key included, this worksheet is a valuable addition to your lesson plans. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enhance your students' understanding of dilations! Download our Dilation Worksheet today and empower your students with the skills they need to succeed in Math.

Compatibility

For optimal use, I highly recommend printing this resource. While digital tools can be incredibly useful in many contexts, some of the questions in this resource involve tasks that are best completed with pencil and paper. Printed versions of the resource provide students with the physical space they need to work through these tasks and fully engage with the material.

Instructional Math Video

In order to provide the best possible learning experience for your students, I've included a QR code link to a video that I created to assist with using this worksheet. While the video is not professionally produced, it can be an incredibly helpful tool for students who are learning remotely, were absent during the activity, or are homeschooling. Additionally, it can serve as a substitute lesson plan in case of unexpected absences or classroom disruptions.

The video includes several examples and provides step-by-step instructions that can help students complete the activity successfully. By offering this additional resource, we hope to provide your students with the support they need to master the concepts covered in the worksheet.

Math Standards

Aligned with common core standards 7.G.1, 8.G.1.4 8.G.A.3. Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, and translations; given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the congruence between them. Florida’s 8th Math B,E.S.T. standards MA.8.GR.2.1 Given a preimage and image generated by a single transformation, identify the transformation that describes the relationship. MA.8.GR.2.2 Given a preimage and image generated by a single dilation, identify the scale factor that describes the relationship. Instruction focuses on the preservation of similarity and the lack of preservation of congruence when a figure maps onto a scaled copy of itself, unless the scaling factor is 1.
