Digital citizenship and internet safety unit with middle and high school

Our orientation in space and time place our students in a world where the internet is becoming a dangerous place for kids to be unprepared and alone. It Is our duty to teach them about the dangers of the internet, but also, about how to be an upstanding citizen in the digital community. The goal of common core standards and Texas essential knowledge and skills is to prepare students for the future. Digital citizenship is some that all student need to know to be a part of the digital world and know how to function in it.

Students will have a chance to learn how to be a digital citizen and interact safely in the digital world. Students will learn how to not just be a digital user but rather a contributor to the digital world and community.

This typing unit includes:

- Key points on internet safety
- Key points on safe searching and information literacy
- Key points on fair use and copyrights
- Resources on strategy and practice.

This unit is great for any secondary tech classroom that needs to improve on skills and understanding, or, make sure they kids are ready to use your classroom tech. It is also a great way to start the year!
