Description

Do you teach the digestive system to your high-school students? This 4-page activity is the PERFECT way to introduce the digestive system to your anatomy, health, or biology students! No prior teaching required! Zero prep needed! This activity takes my students approximately 30 minutes.

Pages 1 - 2: These pages are all about digestive system basics. Students will read about the difference between the gastrointestinal tract and accessory organs, mechanical and chemical digestion, and absorption. After reading a few short paragraphs, students will answer 8 questions and then complete a large chart to solidify their understanding of the gastrointestinal tract vs. accessory organs.

Pages 3 - 4: Students will color the digestive system using a color-by-number worksheet. This will allow them to have familiarity with the location of each organ.

Parts of the digestive system covered: mouth, tongue, salivary glands, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas

This free resource is a part of a larger 2-day product: Digestive System Anatomy Coloring & Activity Worksheet. The paid resource goes in-depth on the function of each organ (rather than just coloring).

This resource would also be perfect before using the Digestive System Lab! In this 2-day lab, your students will determine and model the length of their own digestive tract using string. Then, they will "digest" a bag of food gradually as they investigate the role of each organ in the process of digestion.

This resource comes from my full Digestive System Unit! It is also included in my Full-Year Anatomy & Physiology Curriculum.
