Description

Do you teach the digestive system to your high-school students? This 8-page activity is the PERFECT way to introduce the digestive system to your anatomy, health, or biology students! No prior teaching required! Zero prep needed!

Parts of the digestive system covered: mouth, tongue, salivary glands, teeth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine (and smaller parts), large intestine (and smaller parts), rectum, anus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas

This resource is available in both print and digital forms. Included within this resource you will receive:

  • 8-page student packet
  • 8-page digital pre-colored student packet (through Google Slides™ with textboxes)
  • Key to the packet

Pages 1 - 2: These pages are all about digestive system basics. Students will read about the difference between the gastrointestinal tract and accessory organs, mechanical and chemical digestion, and absorption. After reading a few short paragraphs, students will answer 8 questions and then complete a large chart to solidify their understanding of the gastrointestinal tract vs. accessory organs.

Pages 3 - 6: Students will read about the journey of food to feces through the human body. Along this journey, they will color each structure and read about that structure's function and important details. They will also answer questions about each organ to guarantee that they are engaged and reading closely.

Pages 6 - 7: Students will complete a large fill-in-the-blank chart. Within this chart students will need to apply what they have learned to determine which part of the digestive system each statement is describing. This chart would be perfect to re-use on a test or quiz!

Page 8: Color the digestive system!
