Description

This packet includes 100+ pages of printable St. Patty’s Day writing pages, picture cards, and word cards for you to use with your students with autism or early learners. If you are looking for a product that you can print and use immediately with your students during writing instruction, writing station, independent work, or homework, this is it!

Like most special education teachers, I run a classroom full of students that range in ability level. When I plan, I always find it hard to find resources that will fit ALL of my student’s needs. This writing packet supplies you with 6 writing pages in 15 different versions to meet the needs of each and every student in your classroom, from non-verbal, non-writers, to students that can independently write sentences on their own based off of pictures.

12 Picture Cards (Use for receptive & expressive vocabulary development)

Sentence Building Word Cards – These cards go along with the writing pages so students can build sentences first and then write them using the sheets. The word cards include the following Dolch sight words: I, see, a, look, at, the, is, it, he, has, have, for, you and punctuation marks.

This resource is broken down into 5 different levels to help you find exactly what to print for each student. You can have a student stay on one level until they are ready to move onto the next level, or scaffold the different levels each week using the same topic sheet (Mon - Level 1, Tues - Level 2, Wed – Level 3, Thurs – Level 4, Fri – Level 5).

LEVEL 1: Receptive Language/Pre-writers

Who? The following sheets can be used with students that are non-verbal and/or students that are still developing fine motor skills pre-writing skills. These sheets can also be used to work on receptive language and sentence structure for all learners.

Uses:
• Cut the sentences into strips and the pictures out and have the students match or point to the picture of the sentence as you read it out loud or as they read it if they are able.
• Provide students with errorless writing by allowing them to match the pictures to the sentences to create a full sentence then have them read it out loud or you read it for them.
• Cut the sentences up and have the students put the words in order to create a sentence for the picture.
• Add Velcro to the pictures and sentences and put in your students’ workboxes, independent work binders or send home for homework!

LEVEL 2: Beginning Handwriting

Who? The following sheets can be used with students that are developing handwriting skills and still require lined tracing font for correct letter formation.

Uses: Have the students trace the words in the sentence.

LEVEL 3: Structured Sentence Writing

Who? The following sheets can be used with students that are able to trace font without any lines as well as use correct formation independently.

Uses: Have the students trace the words in the sentence or fill up the boxes with the correct letters/word to complete the sentence.

LEVEL 4: Building Complete Sentences

Who? The following sheets can be used with students that are able to use correct letter formation and finish incomplete sentences.

Uses: Students write complete sentences by filling in the blanks or boxes.

LEVEL 5: Independently Writing Complete Sentences

Who? The following sheets can be used with students that are able to write complete sentences independently

Uses: Students write complete sentences.
