Description

This is an excellent one-page format that was successfully used with E.S.L. or E.S.O.L. students. (This item is recommended for lower to middle English levels.) Second to fourth grade, general education students also enjoy and benefit from this activity.

What's included:

  • a simple, one-page template to know where to place: the date, “Dear Diary,” the body, pictures, and the closing
  • directions to remind students to tell about
    • what they did during the day,
    • something they enjoyed,
    • something they used, and
    • any English they learned.
  • drawing of a clock and pictures to show the time they think they completed them and what they did
  • Easel format to use instead of paper

This is a terrific "poster" for students to refer to in the class or at home. This works well for a small project (especially during a break) after classroom practice. Wonderful for winter, spring, and/or summer breaks! Students can complete a diary while they are on break and bring it back to class. You assign how many entries should be completed. One a day, one a week, etc.

I have tried to make the form simple and easy to understand. A great follow-up is to allow students to share an entry (or more) with others. Enjoy!
