Description
Your students will ask to play this all. the. time. The Tweet a Pic Dialogue and Description game for grades 6-10 asks students to write a 140 character tweet for a variety of high interest pictures using their best dialogue or descriptive writing. In groups, students take turns acting as "judge." Members of their group anonymously turn in their best tweet for a picture and the judge chooses the best one. The student who writes the winning tweet gets a point for that round. The judge role switches to the next student, and a new picture is chosen to "tweet" about.
This game motivates students to use their best dialogue and descriptive writing. It's the perfect way to reinforce descriptive writing skills before starting a writing piece or if you notice your students need a boost in their writing.
