What educators are saying

I used this at the beginning of the year to assess where my students were when they started the school year. These really helped me determine who needed the most help right away and what skills they were missing. I used the data to create my math small groups. It's a great resource!
I saw a coworker with this and I had to buy it. My students are in math intervention and these pretests helped me to determine groups by standards and grade levels. Thank you!

Description

Do you ever wonder which standards your students have mastered from the previous school year or what will be expected of them the following year? This math assessment pack will give you that information and more!

This resource includes a K-5 checklist for the six major concepts in the Common Core Standards: place value, addition & subtraction, measurement & data, geometry, multiplication & division, and fractions. The checklists are organized by grade level and concisely state the standards for each grade level on a particular concept.

There is also a written math assessment for each of the six concepts. The assessments include one or two questions for each standard related to the concept for every grade level. The assessments are written in a K-2 and 3-5 format to make the actual assessment process a little easier. This format would be great for whole class pretests.

Just in case you prefer to give oral assessments, I've also transferred each written math assessment to individual task cards. There is one task card for each of the written assessment questions. These task cards would be great for younger students, RTI students, or students who need additional modifications.

Since I teach third grade, I plan to use the K-2 assessments as a pretest for major concepts. This will help me guide my instruction and math groups. Fourth and fifth grade teachers may only want to use the 3-5 portion and save the K-2 assessments for students experiencing difficulty with particular concepts. First and second grade teachers may only want to give the K-2 assessments or to only use the oral assessments for particular students. The assessments could also be used as a diagnostic math assessment. The options are endless!
