Description

El Dia de los Muertos comes alive with this rich Day of the Dead research project! This collaborative webquest focuses on the Day of the Dead's history, traditions, and symbols. Learn about Spanish culture, sugar skulls (calaveras), pan de muerto, and ofrendas!

Students are given access to a project Google Site, handouts with guiding research questions, and a digital note-taking chart. Implementation is easy!

Flexible options are included! Students can use the Google Site to access research links or the Dia de los Muertos handouts.

This project is for collaborative groups of four students. This resource can be implemented as an individual research activity, however, or used with groups of varying sizes.

This Spanish holiday webquest includes four student roles:

✅ History Hunter: Researches the Day of the Dead's origins and history

✅Culture Curator: Researches Spanish cultural events

✅Food and Music Expert: Learns about traditional foods and music

✅ Symbol Sage: Researches symbols associated with this fascinating holiday

The research project's site includes 5 digital resources for each of the four roles or topics.  One of the five resources includes a video to further enhance your students' learning about Dia de los Muertos!

Student research packets help keep your students focused throughout the research process! The handouts include guiding questions according to the research topics. Teacher answer keys for all research questions are included! A digital note-taking chart will further keep your students organized and on task!

For the final project, group members accumulate their research findings to create a comprehensive Google Slides presentation showcasing what they’ve learned!  An editable teacher’s grading rubric for the slide presentation is included.

This research project is unique! The webquest ensures individual accountability while facilitating teamwork!
