Description

Developmental Psychology
Erik Erikson

Erik Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development is an incredibly engaging topic in any AP or regular psychology class. Over the years I have done a variety of activities to help the students better understand the various stages depending upon how much time I have during the unit. I have put all of my activities together in this file for you to use.

Activity #1: Group activity where the students are placed in small groups and assigned a specific stage of development to analyze and create a class presentation and/or visual to disseminate the information to the class.

Activity #2: Review Questions that can be used to review the material if you are short on time and have to cover Erikson quickly in class. The students can respond to the questions individually, in pairs, small groups, or as a whole class.

Activity #3: This is an introspection assignment where the students analyze the first six stages of development, the source of conflict at each stage, and how it relates to their own lives.

File Includes:
• Activity #1
o Activity Description
o Scoring Rubric for the class presentation
o Stage handouts for each group with the activity description and specific background research on the stage itself.
• Activity #2
o 10 Review Questions
• Activity #3
o Introspection assignment description and examples of possible sources of conflict for each of the first six stages of development.
o One of the assignment sheets also contains a graphic organizer for the students to use as they reflect on the stage.
