Designing a Dream School: A Middle School PBL Unit

Give dreaded fractions a real-world twist! Students are commissioned by the school district to design a dream school! Use fractions to help students design a scaled blueprint on Floorplanner, a Google Drive app. Students also add, multiply, and divide fractions to determine the area of the school, the maximum capacity, and the thickness of the drywall installations.

This unit includes three step-by-step guides for students to help foster independence as they work through the project, a teaching guide, two sample floor plans, and a grading rubric.

This is an excellent unit for teachers and students who are just delving into project-based learning!
