What educators are saying

I read the books with my students, then they take them home and read them with their families. I like the CV books for practicing difficult sounds in French, such as hard and soft C and G. I will use these for years to come.
I'm using this for assessment and guiding reading. They are very simple but it's great for very early learning.

This resource includes 60 readers from the following 3 products AND the bonus ONLINE versions of the readers.

    DECODABLE TEXTS en français

    TEXTES DÉCODABLES

    (Les syllabes)

    Carnets de lecture de base

Inspired by SOR (Science of Reading) philosophy, these are great for beginning readers to use in guided reading groups, at-home reading programs, and classroom libraries!

They're also ideal for struggling readers, as it teaches "the code" for sounding out words, one consonant sound at a time.

This includes 22 original easy decodable texts for students who are learning to read and decode. Each little reader has 8 pages of decoding to do, focusing on one initial consonant followed by the vowel sounds. (Check out the FULL preview!)

    Books include:

Bb - ba be bi bo bu

Cc/ç -ça ce ci ço çu cy

    Cc - ca co cu

Dd - da de di do du

The /a/ books only have words with an /a/, but add a silent -e in a few words in the later books (e.g. nage, plage, balle, banane, tasse, etc.).

The /e/ books build upon the /a/ sound, and add the /e/ and /eu/ graphemes. For practical purposes for beginning readers, they are indistinguishable (in many dialects, they are, in fact audibly indistinguishable).

In the /i/ books, there are words with all of the previously-introduced vowels.

    In the /o/ books, words with /a/, /e/, /eu/, /i/ and /o/ are included.

And in the /u/ books, all simple vowel sounds can be found in the books.

    DECODABLE TEXTS en français

    TEXTES DÉCODABLES

    Les Fêtes

    Carnets de lecture de base

Inspired by SOR (Science of Reading) philosophy, these are great for beginning readers to use in guided reading groups, at-home reading programs, and classroom libraries!

They're also ideal for struggling readers, as it teaches "the code" for sounding out words, one consonant sound at a time.

This includes 6 original easy decodable texts for students who are learning to read and decode. Each little reader has 8 pages of decoding to do, focusing on the simple vowel sounds, and all the consonant sounds and blends.

    • Mimi
    • Le bas de ...
    • Qui veut ça?
    • Qui a reçu?
    • Je suis ravi
    • Il y a

A different set of books with complex sounds will be available as soon as I write them.

They are all fold-and-staple books, and there are 2 copies of each book on each 8 1/2" x 11" sheet.

I like to print and photo-copy these for guided reading groups and have children highlight each word with a different colour. They can then bring the books home and read with/to their families, and develop an at-home reading library. Since each page is only 1/4 of sheet of paper, they're a great size, and they're a more economical and eco-friendly way to mass-produce interactive readers. Double-sided insides would make it even more economical, but make sure you're using a book binding stapler in that case, as the words and illustrations would be toward the inside fold if you're doing it that way. I still prefer the fold and staple method, just for a little added durability and longevity.

One print-out gets you 2 copies of the books.

    These are all .pdf files

**To cut in half, I recommend assembling and stapling prior to cutting. Then, using a guillotine cutter, cut full pages, SPINE FIRST. (NOT doing this spine first can lead to unwanted rips and tears in the books if your guillotine isn't super sharp.)
