Description

This resource gives a brief background and geography to Roosevelt’s speech Declaration of War on Japan. It introduces students to a few literary terms and guides them through an analysis of the speech. Students also develop strategies for persuasive speaking by articulating one excerpt from Declaration of War on Japan. This resource aligns with the Core Knowledge Sequence: 7th Grade History, page 166, Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941: “A day that will live in infamy” and 7th Grade Language Arts, Essays and Speeches, p. 161, Declaration of War on Japan by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
