Rationale: The sequence of these units was designed to weave the study of literary (fiction) and informational text throughout the school year to help students retain concepts, gradually build skills and knowledge, and to help students understand the difference between these types of literature.
In the spirit of the season, a free gift, greeting cards activity, has been added to this unit! This greeting card activity allows students to practice real-world conventional writing in a fun, light manner. If it is allowable, they can even share their personalized cards with family and friends: digitally or printed.
