What educators are saying

This resource was perfect for teaching Day of the Dead. The presentation is colorful and well-made. The activities are engaging and students enjoyed making connections to the movie Coco. I would love to see a lower level version of this for 2nd-3rd.
Well put together resource and was easy to use when were still distance learning. thank you! I have still be able to use in person and it's great.

Description

This lesson explores the Day of the Dead in Mexico and the cultural connections seen in Pixar’s movie, Coco. The activities are engaging for students & the guided, 5-E format is easy for you to use! Begin with a fun “Memory Game: Mexico” warm-up. Test their knowledge of Dia de Los Muertos with a “Fact or Fiction?” activity, then introduce various customs of the holiday. Fill-in notes accompany the lesson. Next, challenge your students to investigate elements of a traditional Day of the Dead celebration with a “Coco” analysis activity. A printable “walk-around” poster version is also included for in-class instruction. Finally, assess learning with a fun activity where students write a recipe explaining how to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Students do not need to have seen the movie, but in my experience, most have & love the connections! Print & interactive, digital versions of the materials are included. Made for traditional in-class learning or digital 1:1 classrooms. Everything you need is included!
