Description

This lesson answers the essential question, "How do websites collect your personal information, and what can you do about it?" This hyperdoc is a PowerPoint presentation, and can be uploaded to Google Drive as a Google Slides presentation. You can use this as a student-paced lesson, while your students navigate through the slides at their own pace, or it can be used as lesson for the whole class - and it's also perfect for partners or small groups. The slides include vocabulary, deeper-thinking questions, online activities, etc.

I also include a link to the hyperdoc as a Sway presentation, which is my favorite way to present the hyperdoc to my students.

This lesson is designed for high school students taking a digital literacy and citizenship course and/or computer applications course.

The next lesson in this unit sequence, Why Are Restaurant Apps So Hungry for Your Data? teaches students why apps want our data so badly, and why we are so willing to give it up.

This lesson is part of my Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship Bundle!
