Description
This set contains daily vocabulary quizzes for Units 1-4 of Cambridge Latin Course. If you teach CLC, this is a simple but oh so effective way to build in student accountability and vocabulary review. I have been using daily vocabulary quizzes with my Latin classes for the past three years and have been amazed with how this simple strategy has helped my students master Latin vocabulary.
N.B. - These are the vocabulary words from Cambridge Latin Course, Units 1-4, 4th edition. I do not have any CLC specific content (stories, pictures, or articles) in this product so as to respect copyright.
THIS SET CONTAINS:
◆ 1200 MINI QUIZZES as animated slides for Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides (25 per stage) - I paste these slides into my lesson PowerPoint for the day. They are animated so that students see all of the Latin words at once. Then, after the quiz is over, the English answers appear one by one for immediate review and peer grading. I included 25 per stage so that you should have enough regardless of how long you take to complete a stage.
◆ 1200 MINI QUIZ HANDOUTS as PDF files and editable PPT files - I have arranged four copies of each mini quiz per page so that you can conserve paper. An example can be seen in the product preview.
◆ 48 STUDENT HANDOUTS as Microsoft Word Documents and PDF files - The handouts give students their list of words along with which new words will be added to the next quiz. That way, at a glance, they can tell both which words are new and also which review words will possibly be on the quiz. An example can be seen in the product preview.
◆ 4 MASTER KEYS as Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets and PDF files - New words are marked in bold, and the quiz with the last set of new words is marked in grey. You can easily copy/paste a quiz into another document if, for example, you needed a specially-formatted copy for a student with a particular learning need.
HOW TO USE: As you can see in the preview, the first quiz contains the first five vocabulary words on their handout. Then, each day, I add two more new words. Once the list grows to more than ten, the students get a random assortment of 10 eligible words. However, the new words are always included in that list: so, it's 2 new + 8 review.
WORD ORDER: The vocabulary words are arranged more or less in the order that they appear in the narrative, regardless of stage. It makes the first quiz (5 words) easier because students often recognize the first words from when they were used in a previous stage.
