Description
Disneyworld: A Microsoft Excel Project and PowerPoint Project is designed to be a high interest, engaging, end-of-year project or end-of-the-semester project, taking approximately two – three-weeks for students to complete and another week for class presentations.
Students will be asked to do the following:
Internet Research: Students will be researching airline costs, Disneyworld admission costs, lodging and lodging costs, Special Disneyworld tours and entertainment, and rules of when they will be allowed to schedule special fast passes and make dinner reservations. In addition, students will be reading and reporting about Disney Magic Bands, airport luggage regulations, and TSA requirements.
Microsoft Excel Workbook: Students will be required to report their costs in a Microsoft Workbook with 5 specially labeled tabs which includes a spreadsheet on Families Going, Airline Costs, Ticket Costs and Lodging Costs, Total Vacation Costs.
The Microsoft Excel skills required to complete this project are:
a) Creating a spreadsheet
b) Adjusting the width of columns so that text fits
c) Putting a column in alphabetical order
d) Labeling tabs of a worksheet
e) Wrapping text in a column title
f) Inserting borders both inside and outside
g) Creating a formula that totals columns
h) Taking a screenshot of a picture to put in the worksheet
i) Inserting a background on the worksheet
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation: Students will be required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation to share with the class the decisions they made for their family. This project is written so that each student’s presentation will be unique. Students will be making the following decisions as they share their presentation with the class:
a) What family members will attend
b) What week the trip will take place
c) What resort they will stay at
d) How many rooms they will need
e) Pictures they will use for the presentation
f) Date on Excel spreadsheets they prepare
g) Additional tours they might be interested in
h) Address if family members have any special needs, for example, need a stroller, etc.
