DBQ Organizing Outline

DBQ's, (document-based questions) using primary documents to answer a historical question, are increasingly being used at all secondary grade levels. I created this outline to help students organize their document groups as well as evidence from the documents in preparing them to write a DBQ essay in the future. The intention of this outline is it scaffolds the DBQ essay process to show them how to group and use evidence, as well as write a thesis paragraph. I originally created this for my 8th grade students, but have also used it in guiding the DBQ writing process for my AP world history students. Included are the outline template, student sample outline, and scoring rubric for the complete outline.
