    Description

Whether we need to use a map, read a sign, text, coupon, or medicine label... we are all reading every day... These practical activities focus on daily reading challenges.

220 PAGES OF DAILY LIFE SKILLS ACTIVITIES | BUNDLE | 2 Levels of Difficulty | Visual Lessons | Inferential & Literal Comprehension | Finding Facts | Inferences | Drawing Conclusions | Elapsed Time | Special Education.

    SKILL-SPECIFIC COMPREHENSION ACTIVITIES:

Follow-up questions challenge students to refer back to a variety of maps, receipts, coupons, medicine labels, signs, and more to locate information, find facts, read for details, make inferences, draw conclusions, predict outcomes, and more.

    Maps:

Screenshots of Google maps are used to show real examples of the types of maps that students might encounter. Directional symbols are shown for each map. The answers to some of the questions are directional. i.e. “It’s located in the northwest corner.” Students will become familiar with basic map symbols such as freeways, highways, roads, and streets.

    Medicine Labels:

Is this medicine right for what’s wrong with me? How much should I take? Our health and well-being can depend on answering these questions correctly. Being able to read and understand the information on a medicine label is a crucial life-skill. Colorful and engaging photos and graphics of familiar medicines are sure to capture a student’s interest and keep learning relevant.

    Receipts:

Whenever we purchase an item, we get a receipt. Reading and understanding these receipts is an everyday life skill. How many items did we buy? Were we charged correctly? Students get realistic reading & comprehension practice from these short lessons.

    Texts:

Key comprehension skills can still get a workout with these very short reading passages... Examples of texts are conversational and include common text abbreviations, as well as a casual use of grammar and punctuation.

    Signs & Hours of Operation:

Being able to read and understand signs that show the hours of operation for different kinds of places is a step towards successful independent living.

    Invitations:

Realistic invitations give students practice interpreting the relevant “who, what, where, when” details for a variety of events.

    Coupons:

Want to be a savvy shopper? Then understanding coupons, expiration dates, and discounts is an essential life skill. Colorful and realistic examples ensure students are ready for the 'real world.'

This Bundle Includes both Level 1 and Level 2 Questions:

Level 1 - Literal Comprehension Questions:

Level 1 questions feature 'ask and answer' questions that refer students back to the graphical maps, texts, coupons etc., to locate information and find facts.

Level 2 - Inferential Comprehension Questions:
