What educators are saying

Students were engaged trying to figure out what the cubelets do, this resource was a great place for them to organize their findings

Description

Cubelets are awesome little cubes that are either inputs or outputs. Each combination of different cubes creates a different robot. I use an inquiry-based approach when introducing my students to these little robots. I just give them and go over the first two pages of this packet or pages 3-4 of this packet. First, students predict what each Cubelet does based on what it looks like or its color (some are very hard). Then, they are to investigate and take notes on the function of each Cubelet. Students love trying to figure out what each Cubelet does through the Scientific Method of keeping constants and isolating variables.

Pages 3-4 has an added box for the Cubelet name. You could either have the students come up with a name for each Cubelet based on its function, or you could give this to the students when the inquiry-based time of figuring out the function of each Cubelet is over. Having common names of the Cubelets will help the students communicate better while investigating.

In the end, my students use this graphic organizer to help them create some really cool robots with their Cubelets.

I have also included an answer sheet. The names and functions of each Cublet are given.
