What educators are saying

This is a great source for review parts of insects and giving my students ideas for creating their own insects.
My students loved using this resource. They used it to create their own insect. Having the different pictures split into different categories was very helpful.

Description

This is a great resource for teachers that are looking for an open-ended, creative project focused on science, writing, and art. After reading several books on insects, students create their own insects adapted for survival. They will sketch/brainstorm their own insect and write about their creation. Using the attached handouts as rough drafts, the assignment is turned into a beautiful art piece complete with an informative writing piece. Kids love this project and are highly engaged by it- I've had great success using it even on a day with a substitute teacher, as it takes very little direct instruction to complete successfully. This project works best if used along with an insect unit.
