Description
This detailed PowerPoint resource provides you with 23 slides used to teach the Cornell Note Taking Method.
There are several different methods of note-taking. No one method fits the needs of all students; however, many individuals have found that the Cornell note-taking system is effective for lectures or lessons, and informative reading.
There are seven steps to this method:
•Prepare your notebook paper to be organized into sections.
•Paraphrase the facts that are presented throughout the lesson or reading.
•Leave space between changes in topic.
•Number, indent, or bullet key ideas.
•Use short sentences, abbreviations, and symbols to save time when writing.
•After the lesson, review your notes and recall potential test questions.
•Finally, summarize the lesson in 2-3 sentences.
The following slides were created to help teach students HOW to take notes using the Cornell method using a gradual release model.
- "I do" - Example of what completed notes would look like
- "We do" - Reading passage provided to practice note-taking together
- "You do" - Use your own lesson to provide your students with the opportunity to practice what they've learned.
