What is Core Vocabulary?

Core Vocabulary is the set of core words that make up 75-80% of our daily vocabulary. Core Vocabulary should be used taught and used as a part of all AAC systems in and out of the classroom setting.

How do you use this with your students?

For my low level students, I start with only a few tabs until they are able to identify, use, and can properly communicate with those PECS. As we work on adding more vocabulary, I add in more tabs.

For higher level students, we go over each page before implementation to learn where the icons are. Then we take this with us everywhere!
