Description

Students will enjoy being a piece of a beautiful quilt that is created by plotting points and coloring the sections on a coordinate grid. They are to following directions with coloring and plotting. Once all students are completed, the pieces are put together to create a patterned quilt.

Unit includes:
*Teacher notes
*Coordinate grid-2 per page
*Ordered pairs-2 per page
*Example of what the picture should look like
*A picture of the finished product

An additional lesson can be used to teach group work and teamwork by incorporating the lesson that one simple picture can be transformed into a beautiful quilt by putting all the pictures together.

Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
