Context Clues Passages

Once you've taught context clues, students can use these passages to practice identifying the meanings of unfamiliar words in context. Using a SMART Board, students can come up and highlight clues in the passage that lead them to the correct definitions of the words. Multiple choice answers are provided. This can also spark great discussion as students debate over which answers are the best match for the words, using the text as support. This could also be used as a quiz to assess mastery or a pre-test to determine areas of need.
