Integrate Math and Science with this Graphing the Constellations Activity! Students learn about coordinate graphing and when certain constellations are found in the sky (and WHY)! The constellations are accurately placed for the Summer and Winter sky so that their positions match that of their actual positions in the sky -so it can even be used as a constellations star map!

What are Constellations?

History of Finding Pictures in the sky

What constellations can you see in the night sky?

Why can you see constellation at different times of the year?

Astrology vs Astronomy (can be left out)

  • Questions embedded in to the readings
  • 2 coordinate grid Mystery Picture directions and graphs (one for the Summer sky and one for the Winter)
  • Answer keys
  • Optional add on for students to draw in pictures on the constellations using a resource sheet.
