What educators are saying

This is a great resource to use as a review at the end of the unit of at the end of each section. It helps students review the content they learned.

Description

Concept mapping is a powerful tool proven to help students retain information and think deeper about content. My students always struggled with creating their own concept maps from scratch. This product represents the scaffolding I created to not only help my students get started with the mapping process, but also to recognize connections between concepts.

These cards are perfectly aligned with the Ms Razz lessons you already know and love. Instead of giving time for students to start on their homework, use this resource as an opportunity to get your students up and moving and talking about what they learned. Formatively assessing your students after a lesson has never been easier!

Other implementation ideas:

  • Bellwork assignments
  • Lesson pre-assessment
  • Test-prep before a summative assessment
  • Retrieval practice
  • Station learning
  • Jigsaw learning + Gallery walk
  • Interactive Notebooks (Digital and print!)

Content and skills assessed: Scientists, experimentation, models, and discoveries related to atomic structure, subatomic particles, isotopes, ions, and atomic mass calculations

Materials your students should have access to:

  1. Scissors ✂
  2. Glue stick
  3. Large paper (such as poster paper)
  4. Colored paper or cardstock
  5. Markers✐

Another idea: Use these cards year after year by cutting and laminating. Students can assemble their concept map on a whiteboard and use dry erase markers to show connections between ideas.

Perfect for developing reasoning skills, classifying information, and thinking deeper about interconnections between chemistry content. Particle models, pictorial representations, and practice problems are included.

Struggling learners? Gifted/talented learners? Easily differentiate this activity by homogeneously grouping your students by ability or by adding or removing cards.

This activity includes:

  • Four (4) Card Sorting Sets that include the following topics: History of the Atom (33 cards), Isotopes (18 cards), Ions (17 cards), Atomic Mass (14 cards)
  • Student directions
  • Google Drive Paperless Resources
  • Teacher Implementation and Prep Guide
  • Editable card template
  • Answer key

Enjoy! I know your students most certainly will!
