Description
These 7 research projects ask students to create presentations about famous composers and musicians from music history time periods: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and early 20th Century, and Modern/late 20th and 21st Century. Enrich your music history curriculum, support distance learning activities, or use them as educational and easy to use sub plans!
Developing research skills in music classes is a great way to engage students in the academic aspects of the discipline as well as foster students’ ability to conduct, evaluate, and synthesize research. It meets the Common Core Standards by having students read, write, and use language effectively in a content area, which are required for college and career readiness.
HOW TO USE:
There are several possible research topics for the students. If a student wants to do something that is not listed, teacher approval before they start researching is recommended. You can type directly on the rubric for assigning points and writing feedback.
You can utilize a variety of formats for the research projects. Students can use a multimedia format (e.g. PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi), video (e.g. FlipGrid, MovieMaker), research paper (e.g. MS Word, Google Doc), or create a poster (for in person). Students who submit a paper-based presentation are asked to play a video sample related to the topic during class because the tech options can embed a video file.
