Description

This all-inclusive unit of work targeted at Year 7 Entry students is based on the inquiry question - how does fast food in Japan compare to Australia?

All worksheets, resources and assessment rubrics are included with this product - a total of 28 documents!

Students will learn to:
- Express likes/dislikes (すき、きらい、いちばん)
- Count to five using the general counter (ひとつ、ふたつ、みっつ、よっつ、いつつ)
- Common phrases for eating out/ordering food
なににしますか。すしを ください。 おちゃ、おねがいします。どうぞ

Students will learn about:
- Origin of katakana words
- Limited time (きかんげんてい) specials
- Manners regarding food and eating いただきます、 ごちそうさま
- Use of keigo when speaking to customers おきゃくさまは?かしこまりました。

Key learning experiences:
-Interpret a Japanese menu
-Write a comparative report on fast food preferences after interviewing classmates and students from sister school
-Design a menu for a new fast food restaurant
-Participate in a fastfood restaurant skit

- Work samples to be collected for portfolio
- Formal Assessment 1: Comparative report on fast food preferences
- Culminating Task/Formal Assessment 2: Fast Food Roleplay – students will use rehearsed language to participate in a food ordering roleplay.
