Description
Are you looking for an engaging unit about Ireland? Then, let's visit Dublin! Either take your ESL students on a learning journey or let them virtually explore the city by themselves with group work activities.
Introduction
You can start with a short brainstorming session. Your students will collectively come up with some interesting information they’ll be able to reuse later in the lesson.
Geography and Symbols
Hand these 2 worksheets right after the brainstorming and your students will complete them with ease.
Reading Comprehension
After reading a fictional email, your students will answer a few questions. The elements mentioned in the text will be of course developed through the unit.
Research Projects
To complete the worksheets, an internet connection is required. Most of the answers are found online, urls and QR codes are provided.
In brackets, I wrote the difficulty of each worksheet (based on my own experience, your results may vary depending on your students’ level).
There are 6 topics, tackling various historical and cultural aspects:
- Molly Malone (Medium):
- The Famine Memorial (Advanced)
- Trinity College Dublin (Medium)
- The Book of Kells (Advanced)
- Famous Dubliners (Easy)
- The Dublin Zoo (Easy)
Grammar
This lesson focuses on the past tense. There are 4 worksheets: conjugation of be and have, pronunciation, and a short analysis of the verbs found in the email.
Also included
